Blackskye Community Radio, Inc  was formed in early 2025 with a mission to strengthen local resilience through reliable, community-based communications. We provide community radio communication systems using General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS), with future plans to offer amateur radio and a mesh network to ensure neighborhoods stay connected during civil emergencies, including severe weather events and information blackouts caused by power grid, internet, and cellular network failures. Rather than operating as a traditional ham radio club with monthly in-person meetings and social events, we’ve taken a different approach—focused on being active on-air and online. Our emphasis is practical readiness, real-world communication capability, and empowering community members with the tools and training needed to communicate when it matters most.

Mission

1. To enable communication with friends, family, and other members of the community when public communication infrastructure is unavailable.

2. To promote radio technology as a hobby.

3. Improve individual radio communication skills through enablement and practice.

4. Promote the importance of emergency preparedness. 

5. To maintain a respectful and inclusive association.
