The General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) is regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and requires a license before transmitting on GMRS frequencies. Obtaining a license is a straightforward process designed to make GMRS accessible to individuals and families.
License Requirements
- No examination or technical test is required.
- The current FCC application fee is $35
- The license is valid for 10 years
- One license covers the license holder and their immediate family members, including spouses, children, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
